Before starting the book, I expected to like Jace, judging by the back of the book and what I had seen of him online.Īnd I did like him. People had been telling me that it was a good book, that I ought to get it, that I would love it, and they were right.Ĭharacters – The characters were very well developed. (It would have been a day, but when I started, it was 11:30 at night.) It sounded good, but I didn’t have a chance to get it until a little while ago, when I devoured it in day and thirty minutes. Note: I received this book in return for an honest review. And, really, I got the far better part of the deal.Ī couple of months ago, I first saw the Blog Tour for the release of Resistance. It came up a couple of times in my blog reader, and I looked at the back and reviews. With their lives traveling paths they never could have imagined, Jace and Kyrin must fight to overcome their own fears and conflicts with society as they become part of the resistance. But there are those willing to risk everything to take a stand and offer aid to the persecuted. After her unique observation skills and perfect memory place her into direct service to the emperor, Kyrin finds herself in further jeopardy as it becomes increasingly difficult to hide her belief in Elôm, the one true God.įollowing the emperor’s declaration to enforce the worship of false gods under the penalty of death, many lives are endangered. Taken from home at a young age and raised to serve the emperor, Kyrin Altair lives every day under a dangerous pretense of loyalty. With them come the haunting memories of the bloodstained past he longs to forget, but can never escape. “Don’t you know? Animals like you have no soul.”Ĭould God ever love a half-blood all of society looks upon with such fear and disdain? Jace once believed so, but when a tragic loss shatters the only peace he’s ever known, his faith crumbles as the nagging doubts he’s tried to put behind him descend on his grieving heart. Today I have the pleasure of reviewing Resistance, by Jaye L. Since most of you probably didn’t, well, don’t bother, because undoubtedly you read the title first. To those that said that, please look up at the title. Those of you who didn’t see the title will look at each other, cock you heads to the side and say, “What is she doing writing aīlog post on a Thursday? I’ve never seen a blog post on Thursday here!” Book Review: Resistance by Jaye L. Knight
